Peacock Mating at Delhi

This day is one of the favourite day of the United Nations Calendar.

It encourages us to get outdoor and explore nature, appreciating its beauty and taking forward the message to protect the EARTH we all of us share.

It is celebrated through out the world with a meaningful theme. This year the theme is —Connecting People to Nature.

Shikra Mating at Delhi

I am reminded of my childhood days when after coming back from school we use to play so many games either in front of our house or in the locality having open space namely empty boxes of the cigarettes, with glass balls , Gulli Danda ,with seeds of tamarind ,with small pieces of slate and so many other games .Except for one or two mind games all the activities were outside the house. But a child of present era is playing all the games on his mobile as mind game. There is no physical activity and no friendship in actual terms as he does not come into contact with other children in his neighbourhood .He becomes adult without having basic traits of life. No doubt he has many friends on his facebook but he has not seen many and they are not of much use and help.

As a child is not moving out of his house he is not aware of the plants and trees just outside his house which provide him the ELIXIER of life OXYGEN. Then there are large number of birds living on them which provide soothing music through out the year such as Peacock ,Asian Koel, red vented bulbul , myna ,oriental magpie ,shikra ,yellow footed green pigeon ,brown headed barbet ,copper smith barbet ,slaty pigeon ,black kite ,dove and so on.

Lapwing Mating at Delhi

As I was brought up in the outdoor atmosphere through out my life I love the nature and would like to be with nature all the time. As a nature lover I have been blessed with very rare moments in my neighbourhood. I have recorded the courtship of Shikra (hunter of the urban area),brown headed barbet (a sound of the hammer on the metal),Asian koel (melodious sound heard early in the morning during the spring and summer season ),black kite (most abundant in Delhi ) and red wattled lapwing ( the sound DIDYOU DO IT ) and peacock( to remove doubt from the minds of majority of people as from childhood they have heard that peahen becomes pregnant on drinking tears of peacock).

It is never too late .Let us begin a new inning and love the nature. We all are creations of nature and ultimately at the end of our journey going to be part of the nature. Therefore let us connect ourselves with NATURE.

I am reminded of a old song “KOI LAUTA DE MERE BEETE HUYE DIN………sung by late Sh Kishore Kumar in film DOOR GAGAN KI CHHAOA MEI
