On 3rd December 2019 while going from Kotdwar to Vatanvasa Gate (to take an entry to the Forest Rest House at Halduparao ) we observed a pair of Yellow Throated Martens crossing the road at a turning and stopped the vehicle to catch their glimpses if possible at the stream flowing down but could not locate them as they melted in the undergrowth along the stream.

Somehow i had a premonition that i should find this specie as per my past experiences in the wilderness of our country inside the park. It is pertinent to mention that they are fearless animals and has very few natural predators because of their powerful built, bright colouration and unpleasant smell.

In the afternoon safari on 4th of December while we were coming from the Forest Rest House to Vatanvasa Gate in search of the elusive Tiger, we observed a pack of 3 Yellow Throated martens on the main route. We thought of observing their activities as they were aware of our presence and quite alert, I am sharing one of the image taken on 4th December 2019 in the less explored region of the Corbett Tiger Reserve (Halduparao)
