Trip Name: Flamingo Watching at Sewri, Mumbai
Date: 15 December 2017
Start time: 0700 hours
End time: 0900 hours
No. of Participants: 25
Can’t think of a better start to a Sunday morning than being in nature. One of our favorite spots in Mumbai, going to Sewri always excites us. And this time we were accompanied by few enthusiastic kids with their parents. Wow, if 2 – 7 year olds can get up so early, then why not grown ups?? After enjoying a beautiful sunrise, while we waited for flamingoes to come little closer, we had a fun filled introduction session. We were pleasantly surprised to see some kids had already done their research and knew quite a lot about our pink feathered friends. In the meantime we spotted few other birds such as Indian pond heron, little egret, black headed ibis, greater egret, red shank, terns and western reef egret. After some time the flamingoes got closer but not so much as we had expected. But that’s nature. Right? We cant expect everything same all the time. Anyways everyone enjoyed looking at flamingoes through binoculars.
So hoping to see them from a much closer distance the next time, we parted with some great memories and some promises for being responsible for our environment.
