  2. Summer (July to September): Temperatures range from 5°C to 25°C. The summer months offer comfortable weather for exploring Leh and its surrounding areas. It is also the time for festivals and cultural events in the region.
  3. Autumn (October to November): The temperatures range from -6°C to 15°C. Leh experiences a transition into the autumn season, with clear skies and crisp air. It is an excellent time for photography and exploring the cultural heritage of the region.
  4. Winter (December to March): The weather is extremely cold, with temperatures ranging from -10°C to 5°C. Many parts of Leh, including high-altitude passes, are covered in snow. The roads to Leh might be closed due to heavy snowfall, making it challenging to access the region during this time. However, it offers a unique experience for those seeking a winter wonderland adventure.

 

How to Reach: Leh is accessible by air, road, and train:

  1. By Air: The Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh connects the region to major Indian cities. Several airlines operate regular flights to Leh, making it convenient for travelers to access this high-altitude destination.
  2. By Road: Leh can be accessed by road through two major highways:
    1. Leh-Manali Highway: This highway connects Leh to Manali in Himachal Pradesh. The road journey offers breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains, high passes, and beautiful landscapes. However, this route is open only during the summer months from May to October, as heavy snowfall blocks the road in winters.
    2. Leh-Srinagar Highway: This highway connects Leh to Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. It is open from April to November, allowing travellers to experience the scenic beauty of the region during the summer months.
  3. By Train: As of now, Leh does not have a direct railway connection. The nearest major railway station is Jammu Tawi Railway Station in Jammu, which is well-connected to major cities in India. From Jammu, travelers can continue their journey to Leh by road or air.
