About Bhandup

Bhandup is truly one of the best kept secrets for observing birds. It encompasses diverse landscapes with salt pans, grassland, a lake, mangrove forest and a creek .One can explore the creek in a boat ride where one can observe a large number of lesser and greater flamingos along with various other birds such as puple heron, Northern pintail, Black tailed godwit, Rudy Shelduck , Plover,Whimbrel, lesser whistling duck etc to name a few.

Meeting Point: Eastern Express Highway, near turn off for the Mulund Airoli Link road

Trip duration:  2-3 hours

Itinerary:

  • Meet Wildnest team members at the meeting point. Proceed to Bhandup Pumping Station,  followed by a brief introduction about flamingos as well as other birds.
  • Proceed for the boat ride.
  • Our naturalist will help in spotting flamingos as well as other shore birds found there with binoculars.

Charges: INR 900/- per person

By road:

If you are coming from Mumbai, take a U turn from under the bridge over Mulund- Airoli Link road.

Meeting point lies on the Eastern Express Highway, near the turn off for the Mulund Airoli Link Road.

By Train:

Get off at Nahur Station on Central line and take a rikshaw towards Bhandup pumping station.
